Program Description

PICHTR’s Climate Grants Accelerator offers “one stop shop” support services for NGOs, government entities and businesses wanting to pursue Federal funding for their climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience initiatives but not having the in-house resources to do so. COVID-19 and the climate crisis has prompted our Federal Administration to heavily invest in clean energy and climate adaptation and resilience across all aspects of society. For example, Hawaii alone is expected to receive at least $2.8 billion from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. To be competitive in accessing this funding collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and oftentimes, geographies, and a track record in grant applications and funding administration will be critical.

PICHTR has a long-standing record of obtaining, implementing and administering a total of $248 million in Federal funding from 1996 through 2022. To name a few examples, this includes the Asia-Pacific Technology Commercialization Center (APTEP), Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), and Hawaii Technology Development Venture Programs funded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), Office of Naval Research at $79 million in addition to private investment; and the Hawaii Renewable Energy Development Venture (HREDV) funded by the U.S. Department of Energy at $11 million. APTEP and STEM later spun off as Elemental Excelerator.

As part of its Climate Grants Accelerator, PICHTR provides a listing of climate change related funding opportunities and a periodic email newsletter with relevant information for grant seekers. Please check-out the below current funding opportunities and sign-up for the newsletter to be kept apprised of new funding opportunities as they become available!
